MakerStudio

 Nieuwe denkrichtingen en innovatieve oplossingen bedenken a.d.h.v. fysieke

materialen  Ideeën uitwisselen tussen verschillende ontwerpdomeinen

Especially at a time when screens and smartphones, AI and technological developments seem to swallow us up, it is important to stimulate and facilitate with physical materials, self-creating abilities and the making process, especially since many digital designs also have their origins here.

In the Maker Studio, we aim to create an environment where CMD students can experiment and innovate with physical materials and sensory elements. Digital designs often simulate reality, while our Maker Studio offers the chance to work with real materials in the real world itself. This allows them to create tangible representations of ideas and prototypes that evoke authentic reactions. Prospective designers also have the opportunity to create physical products that reinforce digital designs, resulting in more complete solutions and expanded design possibilities. Physically handling materials activates cognitive processes that promote a deeper understanding of things like colour, shape, space, structure and texture. This process also stimulates designers' creativity by providing rich sensory experiences and immediate, tangible feedback, enabling inspiring iterations.

The limitations and possibilities of physical materials open up new ways of thinking and lead to innovative solutions. Moreover, experimenting with physical materials stimulates the exchange of ideas between different design domains.

So in summary, students in the Maker studio can

make products:  Prototypes and tangible representations of ideas

 Physical products that enhance digital products  Creative challenges in terms of colour, shape, texture and structure

In the Maker studio, students can learn the following:
